INTRODUCTION

The SMART LIVING PROGRAM is a full program that contains Education for Good Health. Its efficiency is based on the fact that the person actively and consciously participates in his or her own health care

THE SMART LIVING PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN: OBJECTIVES

1. To build a healthy, strong, agile body and to achieve a balanced mind and emotional development.


2. To develop and enable different mental and psychological abilities such as: concentrating power, creativity, memory, coordination, balance, flexibility and relaxation.


3. Discovery of the children’s selves as whole persons formed by: body, mind and feelings, by means of experiencing his/her body and all the positive and gratifying sensations and through several different visualization, concentration, and relaxation practices. The discovery of a harmonious self. The discovery of the value of BEING versus HAVING.


4. Full command of these techniques as a tool that will be useful throughout his/her life, learning to apply them in different situations in the personal, school, family and social spheres.


5. Implementation of healthy living habits.


6. From the experience of inner unity, opening to the group, to Nature and to the whole World, thus establishing more positive and balanced relationships.


7. Enabling human values, stemming from a tru4e understanding of the natural laws that govern life and human relations. The strengthening of the family.


8. The real final objective is becoming a Happy Individual.

SMART LIVING PROGRAM CONTENTS

The SMART LIVING PROGRAM a series of practical contents: breathing, relaxation, and visualization techniques, physical exercise, observation of Nature, constructive dialogues, etc., through which children are able to improve their health, as well as to actively and progressively experience concepts that enable their learning abilities.

CONCEPTUAL: The basic principles of good health, understanding natural laws, the power of thought, concentration, energy, and the law of cause and effect. All these principles are adapted to the age and understanding abilities of children.

La concentraciónREGARDING ATTITUDE: The practice of the different techniques leads to a change in the self evaluation made by children, developing self-esteem and trust in their own abilities, which strengthens their will power, positively changing their behavior, as well as the behavior of the working group, by creating a harmonious and relaxed ambient, both in the class and within their families and environment.

Children will develop a whole set of human values, such as peace, joy, love, integrity, truth, and equality, which is the main goal of this program.

METHODOLOGY

Along the whole program, there is physical exercise as well as the different teachings that we want to convey to children. There is participation of bodily matters, sometimes as an end in itself, to enable well-being and a rediscovery of their own body, and some other times as a means to achieve states of awareness that are more receptive to the knowledge that we want to convey. This learning is active. Although most are individual techniques, some of them take place in a group or between two children, to favor their relations with their peers and develop specific abilities.

The environment in which these teachings take place is of the outmost importance: A joyful and fun environment, which at the same time is serious and disciplined, allowing the use of imagination and creativity; children live adventures, discover methods that allow them to achieve "great feats" and develop "superpowers", for which tales, stories, mythology and other means are used. The children’s learning interest is awakened through a real approach to their world and their deepest desires. The duration of the whole program is equivalent to that of two school periods. Anyway, these courses may take a longer or shorter time, and some special aspects may be emphasized in agreement with their needs or objectives.

The courses are structured in different blocks:

Although in every stage one of these specific topics is developed, both at a procedural and at a conceptual level, due to their interrelation, concepts of the other levels are soon used.

For example, to make children relax and get rid of muscular tension, they have to breath slowly, see how their mind and thoughts achieve serenity, and discover the value of peace, as well as internal and external harmony (with Nature, society, etc.).

THE ROLE OF PARENTS AND TEACHERS

In order to be able to convey these teachings, they must first practice them and integrate them into their everyday lives. Children do not learn only from what they hear, but from everything they receive through all of their senses, their intuition and their emotion.

Therefore, teachers have to know how to convey their teachings. They must be expressive (with gestures), use adequate language; be calm, sweet and slow at times, to induce relaxation, and then energetic and joyful to convey vitality, or mysterious to create an atmosphere of suspense.

They have to motivate children and capture their attention in different ways.They will teach the practice of several different techniques and the values to be learned. They will propose different goals to be achieved according to the level of evolution of each child.

Teachers have to realize the importance of their task for society.

Teachers have to teach with love and excitement.

They must be aware of the fact that they are forming new generations and contributing to life in a world of peace, freedom and respect.
